A look inside...
Daily Writing Journal
Students write in their writing journals for 10-12 minutes with a given prompt everyday. After writing, they share what they wrote with the class. We are practicing our presentation skills (sharing voice and standing tall) along with our listening skills (eyes and ears on the speaker).
Our current unit of study focuses on strategies to use when coming across a hard word in the text. Students are searching for words in their books that have beginning blends. They are becoming familiar with the beginning blends and will be able to use this to help them solve any tricky words they might come across in future books.
We are currently working on our Poetry unit. So far the students have been focusing on using their five senses to help write their poems and adjectives to describe their feelings. Students are also learning and finding the parts of a poem.
In math we are coming to an end of our measurement and time unit. Students practice using rulers and have been given the chance to not only measure objects, but each other as well! We are also learning about the importance of units in measurement.
Students learned about hispanic culture and weaved their own personalized "blankets".
Took a class survey before making our fruit kebabs. Students learned about the importance fruits and vegetables being a part of a healthy diet.
