Current Units of Study:
Reading: We are currently learning about nonfiction texts through the lens of research projects on natural disasters! Throughout this unit, students have been learning valuable research techniques that will help them to synthesize information, take notes independently, and evaluate resources.
Writing: In our current unit, students are writing personal opinion/persuasive essays while also learning about paragraph and sentence structure. Students will also learn about stylistic techniques, such as figurative language, to further their persuasive arguments.
Math: We have been continuing our study into multiplication and division strategies and real-world story problems.
Social Studies: Students are discovering what life was like 250 years ago during colonial times! In this unit, students will explore what motivated people to explore and colonize other lands, how the Dutch and English influenced the development of New York City, and what events led to the American Revolutionary War.
