Dear PS 971 Families: Welcome Back Everyone!
We hope the summer break brought you restful days, fun times and more exciting memories to capture in your writers notebooks. As we begin another school year, we are ready to lift our level of learning with a new reading and writing curriculum, more learning around nutrition and healthy living and lots of fun with friends and staff. We are still partnering with The Coalition for Healthy School Food and working with Amie and Kelley. And we are still implementing digital and robotics learning through our Project-Based Learning (PBL). This is where students incorporate all areas of learning such as math, reading and writing into our social-studies curriculum and new to 971, CIVICS FOR ALL.
September will be a month of getting to know each other and teachers are preparing many learning activities for our students to participate in. This will be aligned with our beginning year student assessment base-line. Teachers will reach out to you informing you of how our children performed. Our ultimate goal, as always, is to provide an environment where all children are safe, feel valued and grow into healthy critical thinkers for our future world.
To ensure a great start to the school year, we have prepared this packet for you. There are forms for you to complete and information for you to take. We want you to know we are here for you and available to answer any questions, any time.
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 4 ---- LABOR DAY: NO SCHOOL
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 5 ----- STAFF RETURNS TO SCHOOL
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 7----- ALL STUDENTS K-5 RETURN TO SCHOOL
- ALL PARENTS ARE WELCOMED TO ENTER THE BUILDING THIS DAY
- GRADE K – 2 – ARRIVAL WILL BE IN THE PLAYGROUND AT 8:10 AM
- GRADES 3 – 5 - ARRIVAL WILL BE IN THE CAFE AT 8:10 AM
- DISMISSAL WILL BE 2:30 PM FOR ALL STUDENTS
MONDAY OCTOBER 9 ------- INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY / ITALIAN HERITAGE DAY - NO SCHOOL
