NYC School Chancellor: Meisha Ross Porter
Dear 971 Families,
My name is Mr. Abdullah also known by many as " Mr. A." I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Parent Coordinator of PS971. My role as Parent Coordinator is to support the most important people in your children’s lives which is you! I am here to answer questions and to support you with any concerns regarding your child's academic or social life at PS971. It is understandable how we as parents would be nervous for our kids as they enter into new endeavors such as Elementary School, nevertheless as your Parent Coordinator I will be there to walk you through whatever concerns, apprehensions or questions you might have. I promise that if I can’t find an answer to your questions, I will find you someone who can. My expectations for this year are to cover topics of interest that concern you as parents. I also plan to bring you various workshops that are intended to help you and your family. I encourage you to stay informed about your child’s education. I understand that circumstances often prevent parents from coming into the school as often as they might like, which is why I am asking every parent to please provide me with their e-mail address if one is available as well as complete the contact sheet with your updated cell number during orientation. I will be sending you updates from time to time via e-mail and through our "REMIND APP". Please be sure to download the app onto your mobile phone. We also have a fantastic website WWW.PS971.COM which you are currently on. I encourage you to visit the rest of the site. Parents are more than welcome to e-mail me at PCMRABDULLAH@GMAIL.COM, or call my direct office number 718-765-2244 (the main office's number is 718-765-2200). You are welcome to contact me at any time or stop by to simply chat in person. Let's work together to ensure the success of your child.
Sincerely,
Mr. Abdullah (Mr.A)
Parent Coordinator
